Yamba Yamaha would like to show its support to our local Clarence River estuary prawn fisherman.
Many have been long term clients and mates and they are doing it tough under the current White Spot control orders.
Many fishermen and their families, without multiple endorsements, haven’t had a pay check for the past six months. Other fishermen have been forced to move to meshing to support their income, meaning pressure on pricing for the entire estuary fleet.
What you can do to help
• Buy local estuary fish next time you go to one of our amazing local restaurants and takeaways – Mullet, Luderick, Black Tip Shark, Mulloway or Dusky Flathead in particular. Most Clarence Valley eating venues use local products but ask for it anyway.
• Write a letter of support to our estuary champions to your local state and federal fisheries minister.
NSW – tara.moriarty@parliament.nsw.gov.au
Federal - minister.watt@agriculture.gov.au
• Give the guys a wave of support when you’re on the water and give them plenty of room.
The Clarence Valley is one village so let’s support our own.
